Dead man’s mail

Yahoo! has been directed by a court to hand over a dead soldier’s mail to his family.

Set me thinking, for I have often wondered along those lines. Not as serious as the article, but what would happen to my poor classmates if (rather when) I pass away – being the class list owner and moderator, I’m the one managing the list. They’ll be pretty much stuck cursing a dead man :) I guess they’ll decide to move to another server – I know one or two who’ll be glad to do that, for they still haven’t “forgiven” me for snapping up the ‘privilege’. Or maybe I can make someone else a moderator as well. And give up my “exclusive powers”?!!! Nah…

No, seriously. I don’t think it’s too far away that people put away their Internet accounts in their will. “My Yahoo! account to my son, my ISP account for my wife and my Hotmail account for my-not-so-respectable brother, for that is the account I get most spam on…”. You think I’m kidding right? We’ll see. Just remember you read it here first – unless of course there already have been such reports, which I’m not aware of.
